We have all seen the guy, the uptight wine drinker with a pad of paper and a pen, writing notes as he samples a few glasses of wine.
Seems really uptight doesnt it?
Personally, before I got really into wine and giving wine gifts around the holidays, it didnt make any sense. A recent story in the news about eye witnesses to crimes and their lack of reliable memories of faces made me think that perhaps the ultra serious wine drinker knows something I dont. How many wines will I truly remember from a big wine tasting event (think 100 wines in 2 days) a week from now? A month from now? Around next Christmas when I buy the majority of my wine for gifts?
The honest answer is, no matter how good your memory happens to be, probably very few if any at all. That has made me think twice about grabbing a small piece of paper and a pen when I am planning on sampling some quality wines.

Wine gift baskets are some of the most thoughtful and unique gifts available online, do you agree?
At their core, wine gift baskets are pretty simple. Take a bottle of wine and combine it with a couple of other products and away you go.
Of course, in practice they are a lot more complicated than that. A great wine gift basket can combine any number of wines from anywhere in the world and combine products like chocolate, popcorn or even crackers and other dry foods. The most inventive wine gift baskets even include stuff like steaks and other fine meats, or find food items such as olive oil.
When it comes to wine gift baskets I think you’ll come to see that variety is really their calling card. Personally, it is that variety which I find so appealing! Why would I want to give a gift, or receive one that I know perfectly before opening the package? Where is the fun in that?
